Se le propone al estudiante un proyecto de investigación para una pasantía de 5 a 6 meses, dirigida a estudiantes de cuarto o quinto año de pregrado (equivalente Master 1 a Master 2) con conocimientos en procesamiento de imágenes y machine learning. La práctica puede formar parte del plan de estudios académicos del pasante.

There is currently an opening for a PhD student working at the Intelligent Systems and Assistive Technologies Lab (ISAT) at Purdue University. The potential student will be funded through a project related to medical robotics, computer vision and machine learning.
We are looking for a Research Assistant (RA) with a good background in computer vision, Deep Learning, and robotics (ideally) as well as with an interest for medical applications. A very good level of programming skills is required (Python preferred). The applicant must have completed Master studies in ECE, EE, IE or CS prior to starting the position. The candidate is expected to start in Fall 2019. A track record including international conferences and journal publications is a plus. The candidate is expected to complete his PhD student in Industrial Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Juan Wachs and work with a team of researchers and students already working in the project. The student might also use/program the Taurus robot and the Da-Vinci robot located in campus.
This research focuses on the “Medical Robotics Research” topic area. Within this area we will address the following objectives: 1) Learn surgical maneuvers from videos using Deep Learning architectures; 2) Recognize high-level commands and execute dynamically the maneuvers; 3) extend to full automation when deemed necessary; and 4) develop models for knowledge representation of semi-autonomous medical behaviors.
